Story telling fun at Your Pets Warehouse Breakfast meeting
27 April 2011
Our breakfast meeting turned into a hive of activity this morning as Janro came as our guests to give a taster session to the group. Janro offer companies the perfect opportunity to upskill their current workforce or make individuals more attractive to prospective employers with a range of exciting training courses tailored to suit individuals or a company's specific needs.
The crew and trainee's had to get into small groups and write a short story. The story had to be based on an animal which had some kind of super powers and lived within the local area. It also had to be suitable for a child around the age of 8. It was fun for all and everyone enjoyed getting stuck in to creating a story. Below are the stories written and some pictures of the morning.
Darwin’s Dark Day
Written by Edward, Annelise, Adam, and Hannah
One Day is Darwin’s dark domain AKA his hutch, his recently new owner who is a blind old woman brought his first feed of the day. Unknowing to Darwin his food was toxic golden nuggets; she opened the hutch and lay down Darwin’s food. Darwin took his first bite and suddenly there was a great burst of light from his mouth and eyes. Once the light died down, Darwin started to change and grow. Soon he was too big for his hutch, the wood started to break as he kept growing. The hutch collapsed and shattered throwing pieces everywhere, without realising some golden nuggets landed in the potato patch. Darwin was continuing to grow into a giant guinea pig. He wore a black ninja costume with gold go-go stripes down his back and gold Nike trainers. His weapons are a pellet shaped boomerang and his vehicle was a giant guinea pig exercise ball.
As he starts to move he discovers he had super speed so he darts off through the garden fence heading towards the streets of Ystrad. Once Darwin disappears the potato patch started to move and a burst of light appeared and died down. Standing in the patch was a potato, he had a long moustache and a tufted of hair on his head. He looks around and see’s the mess Darwin has made. He follows the mess and finds Darwin in the street; Darwin sees the potato and decides he wants to eat it. Darwin grabs his boomerang and throws it, hitting one of the potato’s legs so he falls down. Darwin picks the potato up and starts slowly nibbling at it only to find that he started to shrink until he was small again. Darwin started to cry as he enjoyed being so big, he sloped back to his wrecked hutch and went back to being a normal Guinea pig. The End

Something Fish about Gilbert
Written by Brandon, Alyn, Jeff, Yasmin and Emma
Gilbert is a fish; however he is a fish who is allergic to water so has to live on land. Gilbert is misunderstood as whenever he meets someone he likes he shoots poisonous spike out of his fins and turns people into minions. One lovely day in Pontypandy a fireman named Elvis went down near the lake. At the lake he saw a fish out of the water. This fish happened to be Gilbert, as Elvis picked the fish up to put it back into the water he was shot with the poisonous spikes and turned him into a evil gilbert minion.
This was the start of the world domination of Gilbert minions. A rebel group of people hiding in a pet shop were the only human survivors. They jumped into Thomas the tank engine, drove down to fireman Sam’s fire station and sent a message to Batman. Batman was suffering from a hangover so he called the three musketeers and Dora the explorer. The all jumped onto the Starship enterprise but they were shot down by the Daleks and crashed. They crash landed in Pontypandy and the explosion and radiation from the hyperdrive on the star ship turned all the minions back to humans. Gilbert smiled to himself thinking about the franchise opportunities of Gilbert 2: The return

Rogers Adventures
By Martyn, Mel, John and Mike
One day a talking rabbit named Roger came into the pet store. He was dressed very smartly in a tartan waistcoat, hat and fob watch on his waistcoat. He had a red suitcase with him and a white umbrella. Whilst in the store he pressed his fob watch and the whole pet store became a field full of pretty flowers and loads of rabbits. He said his name was Roger and explained that one of the rabbits was very mean and jealous of him because he had more powers than him. His arch enemy was named Alyn. In the next two minutes Alyn became a bit scared because Roger had turned all the Your Pets Warehouse crew against him. Alyn jumped on his scooter and rode off to space as fast as he could. The End.
