Your Pets Warehouse - The pet store that makes a difference
Your Pets Warehouse Ltd is a social business whose primary aim is to provide work experience and training for young people who are furthest away from the labour market, using a working retail store as a training vehicle. Your Pets Warehouse is a Company limited by Guarantee with charitable objectives. Our aim is to equip young people who are disadvantaged with the skills, experience and confidence to find sustained paid employment in the open labour market.
Your Pets Warehouse is based in Tonypandy in the Rhondda Valley and has a large retail store just off the main street in the town centre with parking and also easy access to public transport.
The crew is made up of 9 permanent members of staff and a number of trainee's and volunteers. The crew pride themselves on offering the customer excellent service with a friendly and happy to help attitude to all customers. Your Pets Warehouse is unlike other pet stores as we see ourselves as a training company who happen to have a pet store which they use as a training vehicle. By supporting the store you are helping us to provide more training, volunteering and employment opportunities within the local community for local people.
Your Pets Warehouse is the brainchild of Kate Wood. In 2009 with the support of directors the idea came to life and the Tonypandy training store was opened. This training store has given many young people the skills needed to go on and find paid work within the local community or have a taster of what work is like. The trainees are of varying abilities and/or come from disadvantaged backgrounds meaning that the training courses provided by Your Pets Warehouse give the students life and work skills along with social gains.
Your Pets Warehouse has been supported by Social Firms Wales, The Coalfields Regeneration trust, Wales Council for Voluntary Action and The Waterloo Foundation Wales.
Ysgol Hen Felin in Ystrad Rhondda works closely with Your Pets Warehouse. Pupils from the school regularly partake in work experience at the retail shop.
In the future more training stores will be set up around Wales in those areas where it is needed most. By showing your support and purchasing from our online or retail store you will help us achieve our aim to make a difference where it matters.
